Dear all,

I am your school's Social Worker.

I don’t have a magic wand, a crystal ball, or all the answers.

But I do have ears to listen, a heart to care, and time to give.

I have ideas and an open mind.

I am your school's Social Worker.

And I am here for you.

My name is Abygail Hlomayi, and I am the school's social worker at School of Hope. I am a recent graduate in Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Cape Town and I have had the privilege work with young people for the last two and half years as a school social worker.  I am currently pursuing my postgraduate studies in Probation and Correctional Practice (focusing on young offenders).

I would like to take a moment to describe my role in this school. I actively address barriers within the child, home, school and community that hinder with his/her achievement. I provide services to learners and families such as assessment, crisis intervention, home visits, individual and group counselling; and coordination of school and community resources. I also liaise with other organisations in cases that require specific intervention.
